Yeast is a kind of fungus and the most common is candida. If there is an overgrowth of yeast in the body, it can be harmful to your health. Yeast intolerance may happen to any person who has too much sugar intake. Your body produces more yeast and kills the good bacteria.

For a start this diet will take three to six weeks to be effective. You want to starve the yeasts for long enough time to see the results. For the period of that duration, you want to bee as stringent as possible. In the first few days you will experience some "cleansing" effect as the yeast toxins is being discharged from your body. You may feel rather tired at the onset. However after that your body will feel better.

First and foremost, avoiding food which contains yeast means most of the stuff that we often take on daily basis. This includes cakes, bread, pastries, doughnut etc. Besides that all food which have gone through fermentation should be taken off the menu. Beer, wine and sauerkraut to list just a few. Vinegar and food with vinegar like dressing, mayonnaise should not be taken. Items which have been processed like canned food and mouldy stuff like cheese should also be avoided.

On top of that, eliminate food which promotes growth of yeast - which is sugar. This is not limited to granulated sugar, it covers all kinds of sugar, including brown sugar, maple syrup, juices and food which are sweet. Typically fruits which are sweet should not be eaten at the time of diet. Dates, grapes, raisins and fig are usually very sweet as they contain high level of sugar. Carbonated drinks is another main culprit. Sugar is the primary source which feeds yeasts.

Foods containing sugar should also be eliminated from the diet of a person under the yeast free diet program, foods like drink mixes, fruit juices, soft drinks, maple syrups, honey and chocolate. Corn syrup which is high in fructose also need to be avoided, along with particular fruits which have high sugar content, like citrus fruits, figs, prunes, dates, raisins, grapes and various dried fruits.
