Men Having Procedures Is More Accepted

There is still a big difference when it comes to the women and men having cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery, but the number of men considering these options is increasing. There has been a recent boom in methods that enhance appearance that are non-surgical, and men are now getting involved.

Most men want a fast recovery time, and for the procedure to be unnoticed by their friends, family and coworkers, they want the process to fit into their life with ease. Men are even becoming a little more self-conscious about their skin condition and this may be a combination of a high incidence of skin cancer as well as their wish to simply look better. The elasticity of skin is negatively affected by UV light from the sun, and this is one of the reasons that those who look more aged are those who have had more sun exposure.

The damage that is caused by the sun can be partially repaired and protected using advancements in skin care techniques. It is pretty quick to apply, a little at night before bed, and an application following the morning shave.

Of the types of procedures available, men specifically seem to consider rhinoplasty. This may be due to the self-consciousness about a big nose, of an odd shape or a crooked nose. Rhinoplasty is generally performed as a day patient under a general anaesthetic and return to work is possible after a week but some bruising may persist for as long as two weeks.

The scars from a procedure like blepharoplasty and neck or face lifts are negligible, so men are also attracted to these procedures. However most men don't want that over-done look. In many cases, a man would mind having some wrinkles less than having obvious signs of having undergone a cosmetic procedure.

No matter what some men seem to do to reduce fat in certain areas, like a good diet and active lifestyle, some of it seems to remain. An over abundance of fat appears on the abdomen or flank of men, and these are the main areas of concern. Shaping of these regions with liposuction can be done as a day patient and return to work the next day is usually possible which can suit the busy male lifestyle.

Accompanying this expanding interest in the muscular athletic male body is a desire for hair removal. Using the latest advances in laser technology, hair removal has become more and more effective in recent years. For the selected areas of the body, several treatments are needed, and one should avoid tanning before undergoing this process.

The reasons men decide to have these procedures done is not always the same as why women do it. There is a competitive pressure in the marketplace for men, real or imagined. Men want to look like a younger version of themselves, so it is recommended that men seek out a cosmetic surgeon who has experience working on men.
