Stop Looking your Age with Botox

By Craig Nevilt

Botox can be used under prescription for smoothing away the frown lines that both men and women get in middle age between the eyebrows and can also be used for other facial wrinkles. Smoothing out lines is what it is most often used for. This type of cosmetic improvement is used mostly by people who feel the lines on their forehead make them look tired or even angry.

You should not consider this treatment if you have an allergy to any of the ingredients of Botox. And common sense dictates that you shouldn't go ahead if there is an infection in the skin surrounding the area being injected. If you have any issues that affect your breathing such as asthma, you also should inform your physician before a treatment.

How does it work?

Usually, wrinkles in the skin form beside a muscle that is close to it, normally beneath it.Botox injected into those muscles restricts nerve impulses going to the tissue that is causing the wrinkle. So, little muscle movement results in the skin supported by the muscle stopping being creased by constant expression contractions. Inhibited muscle contractions means that lines and wrinkles stop forming. The person gets a more youthful look as a result, when frown lines and other wrinkles are reduced.

Botox injections is used for wrinkles as a non-invasive procedure that takes less than half an hour. The practitioner injects a small amount of Botox into the site to be treated. The nerve signals to the muscles under the skin are blocked by the Botox when it starts working. The muscle therefore relaxes and the skin is smoothed, causing facial lines to diminish.

The Botox Injection Treatment may leave the skin a bit red and sore, but this is usually very minor and will reduce after a few days. Usually on the same day, a patient can leave the clinic straight away and return to work. It may take up to a week to maximize the full effect, but the treatment usually starts to work within 3 days.

After the Treatment

The first thing you need to do following your procedure is to try to exercise your treated muscles for one to two hours. You should practice squinting, frowning and raising your eyebrows. This helps work the Botox into your muscles. While this can help, it won't impact your results negatively if you forget or don't have the time to do it.

Be careful not rub or massage those areas that have been treated and do not do yoga, heavy lifting or any type of strenuous exercise for four hours after the treatment. Also, don't take Advil, vitamin D, or Tylenol after the procedure.

And don't be concerned if you see some tiny bumps or marks on your face after the procedure. They will disappear in a few hours.

Make sure whoever is doing your Botox treatment is trained specifically in this procedure. These treatments are medical procedures and need to be viewed as such.
